The Geoscience Testing Lab will be the first analytical testing lab in the UAE to be powered by 100% solar power from Sharaf DG Energy
Sharaf DG Energy helps GTL reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 510 tons per year, equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of around 110 cars
The Geoscience Testing Laboratory (GTL), a Dubai-based subsidiary of Prime Group and the Gulf Cooperation Council's largest laboratory for the construction industry, has passed a decisive step in the arena of the clean energy mix by becoming an analytical laboratory, the first to use 100% solar energy.
Supported by Sharaf DG Energy, the GTL is now equipped with 950 photovoltaic solar panels capable of generating around 723,500 kilowatts of electricity per year.
This transition to total energy independence will reduce the laboratory's greenhouse gas emissions by 510 tonnes per year, equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of 110 cars.
This project marks GTL's true policy of supporting the UAE's
Net Zero strategic initiative by 2050, which aims to generate 50% of its electricity generation mix from renewable sources to balance economic and environmental objectives.
Abdullatif Abdulla Ali Al Gargawi, President of Prime Group, said, “Our decision to use only clean energy at GTL is one of the most significant corporate initiatives we have taken over the years.
This initiative reduces our carbon footprint with invaluable technology support from Sharaf DG Energy and reflects GTL's commitment to the UAE's core economic ambitions of achieving a green and sustainable economy."
Dr. Mary Jane Alvero-Al Mahdi, CEO of Prime Group, said, “In line with the national drive to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, GTL views energy sustainability as a top priority now and in the future. coming.
We are delighted to partner with Sharaf DG Energy in our efforts to adopt this green energy project which now powers our appliances and machinery with renewable energy from the sun. We encourage other companies to follow this path for the benefit of our world and future generations.
